OPEN SYSTEM PRINCIPLES OF OSA:
There are many options for amateur clubs to choose from when selecting a league to participate in. Unfortunately, not all leagues operate to the level that satisfies their members, and information can be difficult to obtain. OSA has a self-enforced mandate to always be transparent and fair to all member clubs through the good times and bad.
- Affordable league membership fees
- Reasonable annual dues
- Generous prize money $ for the top placing clubs in each division
- Regional play without the need for a club to take a single flight for a regular season match
- Advocate for crowd-funded ownership of member clubs
- All OSA member clubs (in good standing) will have a person appointed to the league Board of Governors
- League management will be required to always be transparent with all member clubs
- Disciplinary actions (on and off the field of play) will be determined by well-placed members specifically selected for their skillsets and experiences to respective committees
One of the primary intents of OSA is to operate high-level and organized amateur soccer opportunities for clubs throughout the country. To accomplish this, OSA member clubs will be asked to follow a fairly stringent set of guidelines, rules, and policies to ensure the desired level of professionalism the league founders have. Below are a few of those guidelines and expectations. These serve as a reminder that you are not applying to become a member of any ordinary league, and it will require you and your club to abide by our operating principles.
Member Club Minimum Standards
OSA will present a set of minimum standards for all member clubs to abide by. At the minimum, these standards will be found in our Operating Agreement and annually updated League Operations Manual. All clubs operating within OSA must meet and/or exceed the strictest of standards set forth by the league, USASA, and USSF.
Club Managed as a Business
- Each club will operate as a business by generating revenues including, but not limited to, ticket sales, merchandise sales, and acquisition of corporate sponsorship agreements.
- OSA league staff will work with each club to oversee and hold each club accountable for profit and loss reporting following each match and at the conclusion of the season.
- Clubs will be required to submit monthly and annual budgets to the league office as a part of being in “Good Standing” with the league office.
