Angel Magaña Continues Growth in Mexico’s Liga Premier Through OSA EDGE Program
Baja California, Mexico — Ensenada FC forward Angel Magaña is carving his path in Mexico’s competitive Liga Premier, with a journey that reflects determination, sacrifice, and the unwavering support of family. Magaña’s growth and opportunities at this level have been made possible in part through the OSA EDGE program, which is designed to connect and prepare players for professional opportunities.
Magaña began his soccer career at just nine years old after discovering his passion for the game in local parks. “My soccer journey began when I was a little kid. I started playing at the park and with friends. When I was 9 years old I joined my first soccer team,” said Magaña.
Family has played a central role in his development both on and off the field. “[When it comes to influences] I don’t have someone specific as my influence. I would say my biggest influence has been my family. They have been there for me since day one,” he added.
Like many young professionals, Magaña has faced challenges along the way. The greatest, he says, has been living away from home. Despite the difficulty, the experience has strengthened his resolve to succeed at the highest levels.
The Liga Premier offers a demanding environment with experienced players and clubs with first-division histories. “The competition in my division is very competitive, lots of players with experience which makes the division harder. In this division there’s also teams that have played first division, but now they are down here playing in this division,” Magaña explained.
Among his standout memories, Magaña recalls playing in Santa Ana, California, which he describes as his most memorable match to date.
Motivation for Magaña comes from two sources: personal ambition and family. “What motivates me to keep pushing forward is accomplishing my goals and being successful in life. Another thing that motivates me is my family and being able to provide for them.”
Focused on continuous improvement, he trains diligently to sharpen his fundamentals: quick decision-making, one-touch play, composure under pressure, and finishing ability. His objective for the current season is straightforward—growth. “My goal for this season is learning as much as I can and improving. I want to keep learning so that I can be an experienced player.”
Magaña also shares a message for aspiring athletes and young dreamers: “Don’t let others discourage you from something you want to achieve, whether it’s soccer or if you want to be a technician, business manager, or doctor. Work hard for your dream and never forget anything is possible—you just have to believe in yourself and work hard.”
Through his commitment to learning and development, and with the support of the OSA EDGE program, Angel Magaña continues his growth with Ensenada FC, remaining a player to watch—focused on his career, committed to his team, and driven by the dream of a successful professional future.
